The cookbook in an act of love. Through it we offer our testimony of longing and connection.
This cookbook is the result of our participation in an art exhibition, EV+A 2006, in the City o Limerick, Ireland. Its curator, Katerina Gregos, invited artists from Ireland and abroad to propose works around the neglected concept of generosity. Perhaps the theme demanded an explicit response from the artists -people who frequently labor without pay. It certainly induced a number of attempts for direct engagement with audiences often excluded from the art world. Our own proposal developed out of an idea we had originally had in Los Angeles, where we both lived for many years. An idea grew from our enthusiasm for the companionable warmth of the Taste -even as the world around us appeared to be violently fragmenting. The knowing of warmth, and our belief in its potential, provoked this act. [...]
