Η πρώτη του αγάπη όμως είναι ο κινηματογράφος, και δύσκολα ξεφεύγει κάποιος τελείως από την πρώτη του αγάπη. Αυτό το ανεξίτηλο στίγμα αποτυπώνεται εμφανώς στην αισθητική της τέχνης του. Η φωτογραφία για τον Στάβερη, δεν είναι μια απλή απεικόνιση της πραγματικότητας, αλλά το μέσο για να εκδηλώσει την εξωστρέφεια του. Η φωτογραφία είναι ο λόγος και ο τρόπος του να προσεγγίσει, να φέρει στα μέτρα του αυτό που θα μπορούσες να περιγράψεις ως περιθωριακό, ανέγγιχτο ή εξιδανικευμένο. Με την ίδια αμεσότητα θα αποτυπώσει ένα δημόσιο πρόσωπο (μια διασημότητα, έναν πολιτικό, τα ιλουστρασιόν πρόσωπα των πρωινάδικων και των περιοδικών λάιφστάιλ) αλλά και τον άνθρωπο που υπάρχει, ζει και πορεύεται μέσα στην σκληρή καθημερινότητα που εμείς μπορεί να χαρακτηρίσουμε περιθώριο (ένα τζάνκι στην πλατεία Ομονοίας αργά το βράδυ, μία τραβεστί με τις φίλες της στην πιάτσα ή μια αοιδό σε πίστα ενός σκυλάδικου γ' κατηγορίας). Δεν ορίζει όμως το περιθώριο. Δεν αναγνωρίζει ότι όσοι φωτογραφίζει μπορεί να ανήκουν εκεί ή να κατηγοριοποιούνται ως \"περιθωριακοί\" Όλοι θα ποζάρουν όπως είναι ή όπως θέλουν να είναι. Μόνο που το βλέμμα του έχει την οξυδέρκεια να \"ξεφλουδίζει\" την \"πόζα\" να συλλαμβάνει την \"σάρκα\" κάθε στιγμής, κάθε βλέμματος, κάθε έκφρασης.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eΗ σχέση του με την εικόνα, με αυτό που διαδραματίζεται μπροστά στο φακό, του επιτρέπει να το καταγράψει με αμεσότητα, χωρίς περιστροφές και καλλωπισμούς.
