Man hat mit diesem Grab falschlich den runden Bau hellenistischer Zeit in Verbindung gebracht, der die Spitze der Landzunge beherrscht, die den grossen Hafen von Lindos im Norden abschliesst. In der Regel wird das Gebaude »Grabmal des Kleoboulos« (Ag. Aimilianos) genannt (Abb. 4). Der zweite, kleine Hafen ist nach dem Apostel Paulus benannt, der der lokalen Uberlieferung zufolge hier auf seiner Passage von Rhodos an Land gegangen sein soll (Abb. 3). Die Anmut der Landschaft erfasst den Besucher bereits beim ersten Anblick von oben und wahrend des Besuches des »Heiligen Felsen« der Akropolis.\u003cbr\u003eLindos ist zusammen mit den beiden anderen Stadten der Insel, lalysos und Kameiros (oder Kamiros), bereits im fru-hesten Werk griechischer Dichtung, der Ilias (2. Gesang 655-656), erwahnt und zwar in der Textstelle, die von der Teilnahme Rhodos' am Trojanischen Krieg unter der Fuhrung i des Heraklessohnes Tlepolemos berichtet. Auch die my- \" thischen Wurzeln des Ortes gehen auf die graue Vorzeit zuruck, denn der Heros, der ihm seinen Namen gab, war Lindos, einer der drei Sohne des Kerkaphos und Enkel des Stammvaters der Insel, des Sonnengottes Helios, und der Nymphe Rhodos. Questa tomba e stata identificata, erroneamente, con una costruzione circolare del periodo ellenistico che domina sull'estremita del capo che chiude a nord il grande porto di Lindo ed e chiamata di solito tomba di Cleobulo (Sant'Emiliano) (fig. 4). Il secondo porto, quello piccolo, porta il nome dell'Apostolo Paolo, perche secondo la tradizione locale l'apostolo vi sbarco passando da Rodi (fig. 3). La bellezza del paesaggio impressiona il visitatore sia ad un primo squardo del luogo dall'alto sia durante la visita della rocca sacra dell'acropoli.\u003cbr\u003eLindo e menzionata nel testo poetico piu antico della letteratura greca, l'Iliade (II 655-656), insieme alle altre due antiche citta dell'isola, laliso e Camiro, nel passo che riguarda la partecipazione dell'isola di Rodi alla Guerra di Troia, con a capo FEraclide Tlepolemo. Antichissime sono le radici del sito anche nella tradizione mitologica, . visto che l'eroe eponimo fu Lindo, uno dei tre figli di Cercafo e nipote del dio Helios, capostipite dell'isola e della / ninfa Rhodos. His tomb has been erroneously identified with a circular Hellenistic building that dominates the end of the promontory protecting the large harbour of Lindos at the north, which is usually known as the Tomb of Kleoboulos (church of Ayios Aimilanos) (fig. 4). The other, small harbour is named after St Paul the Apostle, because, according to the local tradition, it was here that St Paul disembarked when he visited Rhodes (fig. 3). The beautiful landscape enchants visitors when they first see it while approaching the site, and also during their visit to the sacred rock of the acropolis.\u003cbr\u003eLindos, together with the other two early cities on the island, lalysos and Kameiros (or Kamiros), is mentioned in the earliest poetical text of Greek literature, the Iliad (II, 655-656), in the passage relating to the part played by Rhodes in the Trojan War, under the leadership of the Heraklid Tlepolemos. The place has also very ancient roots in the mythical tradition, since its eponymous hero, Lindos, was one of the three sons of Kerkaphos and grandson of the god Helios, the founding father of the island, and the nymph Rhodos.
