Χρειάστηκε να φτάσουμε κυριολεκτικά στο κατώφλι της προτεσταντικής Μεταρρύθμισης στη Γερμανία, προκειμένου οι πιο ρωμαλέες μορφές του δυτικού μυστικισμού να αναζητήσουν τη δύναμη και τους τρόπους έκφρασής τους στον ποιητικό μυστικισμό αυτών των περιθωριακών γυναικών.
